Start vfrTracker to install the new update or download

vfrTracker 2.32 features the following new functionality:

• Additional fields added to the flight plan for calculating overdue at destination time
• Flight plan activation, changes, resubmitting and updating during tracking
• A one-press Emergency SMS function
• Automatic sending of a pre-formatted overdue at destination SMS
• Changes to the vfrTracker map position information window, indicating the flight plan details and overdue SMS status
• Message field for additional text when using the send SMS function

Sending of SMS

Please note that vfrTracker is not a security signed java application, this will be done soon.  The one-press emergency function and overdue SMS will need conformation from the user to send the SMS. Once the application has been signed the SMS is sent automatically.

Take care when making use of the SMS functions.  Educate the receiving party on the interpretation of these messages and possible actions to be taken.

vfrTracker is a cellular based application sending position data on the GSM network. Coverage maps for South Africa on GSM, GPRS & 3G can be obtained from the following online resources - cellC MTN VirginMobile Vodacom

vfrTracker and Network Data Costs. Service providers charge ± R1,00 for 1MB of data transfer. With each position update the tracker sends 130 bytes of information to the server. Set at the default update interval of 2 minutes, the tracker updates 30 times per hour costing only R1.00 for 260 hours of tracking.

vfrTracker is aimed to be an affordable tracking device for pilots. Remember to keep that old GPS cellphone with your next upgrade. Purchase a prepaid SIM card and R50.00 airtime, install vfrTracker and use it as your ‘pay-as-you-fly’ tracking device.

Roaming data rates can be immense, contact you service provider for prices before using vfrTracker in other countries.

• Software Updates – on start-up vfrTracker will check for a new version and prompt the user to download and install the application.

Installing vfrTracker

When installing from a mobile phone and an error occurs uninstall the previous version, clear the mobile browser cache and try again.
